"Aiguière ou Aftabé en bronze étamé, Asie centrale, Perse, XIXème siècle"
Importante aiguière ou verseuse, appelée aussi Aftabé, en bronze étamé, à panse ovoïde, bec recourbé et superbe anse en bronze en esse remarquablement ouvragée.
Décor de cartouches et mandorles calligraphiés, fleurs et feuilles, pour la panse, le col strié et fleuri, large grecque fleurie sur la base.
Longue anse serpentiforme et recourbée en esse strié, finitions aux extrémités de deux têtes d'animaux stylisées, l'ensemble en bronze doré.
Couvercle domiforme à décor d'une grecque fleurie.
Cette aiguière ou verseuse etait essentiellement utilisée pour les ablutions, se laver le visage et les mains, au moment des cérémonies religieuses.
" La fête des initiés, debout prêtes à servir, les beautés de toute part tiennent l'aiguière à la main ; les fois d'amour se lavent les mains de toute leur âme; tandis que les beautés versent l'eau, l'aiguière à la main " Lecture et traduction , A.S. Melikian-Chirvani, 1973 p 119.
Du XIXème siècle et en très bon état. Origine Asie centrale, Perse. Les aiguières sont certainement les plus beaux objets de l'art islamique.

"Ewer Or Aftabé In Tinned Bronze, Central Asia, Persia, 19th Century"
Important ewer or jug, also called Aftabé, in tinned bronze, with ovoid body, curved spout and superb handle in remarkably ornate bronze.
Decorated with calligraphy cartridges and mandorles, flowers and leaves, for the belly, the striated and flowery collar, large flowered Greek on the base.
Long serpentiform handle and curved in striated handle, finishes at the ends of two stylized animal heads, the whole in gilded bronze.
Domiforme cover decorated with a flowered Greek.
This ewer or jug was mainly used for ablutions, washing the face and hands, at the time of religious ceremonies.

From the 19th century and in very good condition.
