Bouteille et son bouchon, en bidri à décoration d'argent appliqué, palmettes, frises de fleurs,
Inde, d'époque XIXème, dans un superbe état.
Couleur vert bronze, bidri gravé et application d'argent.
Dimensions : Hauteur : 27,5 cm , diamètre à la panse : 14 cm, diamètre à la base : 8 cm, poids 1580 grs
La patine est superbe et l'objet présente un magnifique décor sur toute la panse ainsi qu'une belle frise autour du col et du bouchon.
Le bidri est spécifique au monde indien.
Cet alliage à base de zinc (au moins 87%) de plomb, de cuivre et d'étain est apparu au XVIIème siècle à Bîdâr.
Il s'agit du seul alliage dont la base n'est pas de cuivre.
Les objets sont moulés, polis, puis frottés avec du sulfate de cuivre, ce qui noircit le métal.
Des incrustations d'argent et de laiton, plus rarement d'or, lui sont ensuite ajoutées: elles peuvent être " à fleur " ou en relief sur une couche de plomb (spécialité de la ville de Lucknow).
Ensuite, l'artisan applique une pâte composée de chlorure d'ammonium, de nitrate de potassium et de chlorure de sodium, qui ne noircit que l'alliage. L'objet est lavé, puis frotté avec de l'huile, ce qui accentue encore la profondeur du noir ou du vert bronze.

"Bottle In Bidri And Silver Decoration, India, 19th Century, Very Good Condition"
Bottle and its stopper, in bidri with silver decoration applied, palmettes, friezes of flowers, India, XIXth century, in superb condition.
Bronze green color, engraved bidri and silver application.
Dimensions: Height: 27.5 cm, diameter at the body: 14 cm, diameter at the base: 8 cm, weight 1580 grs
The patina is superb and the object has a magnificent decoration on the entire body as well as a beautiful frieze around the neck and the cap.
Bidri is specific to the Indian world. This zinc-based alloy (at least 87%) of lead, copper and tin appeared in the 17th century in Bîdâr.
It is the only alloy whose base is not copper. The objects are cast, polished, and then rubbed with copper sulfate, which blackens the metal.
Silver and brass inlays, more rarely gold, are then added to it: they can be "flush" or in relief on a layer of lead (a specialty of the town of Lucknow). Then the craftsman applies a paste composed of ammonium chloride, potassium nitrate and sodium chloride, which only blackens the alloy.
The object is washed, then rubbed with oil, which further accentuates the depth of black or bronze green.
