Magnifique et rare exemplaire ancien de broderie miroir appelé en Inde Sheesha.
De belle taille 144 cm x 194 cm de longueur
Type de broderie sur des coupons de coton coloré au point de croix, avec des incrustations de petits miroirs ronds.
Cet artisanat est né en Perse au XIII siècle.
C'est dire l'ancienneté de cette technique, et s'introduit en Inde pendant la période Moghole vers le XVIIème siècle.
## Kathiawar et Kachchh sont des centres importants de la broderie au point de chaînette.
- Le Kâthiâwar, également connu sous le nom de Saurashtra, est une péninsule située en Inde occidentale et qui fait partie de l'État du Gujarat
- Le Kutch ou Kachchh est un district de l'État du Gujarat, en Inde
Le travail le plus caractéristique se voit sur les vieilles jupes de satin et de coton brodées aux soies les plus brillantes, de semis de fleurs et de bordures de fleurs et d'oiseaux.
De nombreux endroits du Rajpoutana et du Pendjab sont notoires pour les corsages brodés.
Dans presque tout ces travaux on emploie d'innombrables petits morceaux de verres miroirs, faisant partie du dessin et fixés par un cercle au point de boutonnière.
La quantité de verre est parfois telle que le poids du vêtement le rend inconfortable.
On retrouve ce type de travail en Afghanistan, mais avec une technique un peu différente.

Magnificent and rare old example of mirror embroidery called Sheesha in India.
Beautiful size 144 cm x 194 cm length Type of embroidery on colored cotton cross-stitch coupons, with inlays of small round mirrors.
This craft was born in Persia in the 13th century.
This shows the antiquity of this technique, and was introduced into India during the Mughal period around the 17th century.
## Kathiawar and Kachchh are important centers of chain stitch embroidery.
- Kathiâwar, also known as Saurashtra, is a peninsula located in western India and part of the state of Gujarat
- Kutch or Kachchh is a district of the state of Gujarat, India
characteristic is seen on the old satin and cotton skirts embroidered with the brightest silks, with flower seedlings and borders of flowers and birds. Many places in Rajputana and Punjab are notorious for embroidered bodices.
In almost all of these works, countless small pieces of mirrored glass are used, forming part of the design and fixed with a circle at the buttonhole stitch. The amount of glass is sometimes such that the weight of the garment makes it uncomfortable.
We find this type of work in Afghanistan, but with a slightly different technique.
