Ce peintre est né à Zoeterwoude en 1893, son père Menso Kamerlingh Onnes était peintre et membre de l'école de LA HAYE, qui en 1911, lui a donné l'autorisation de devenir artiste et lui a enseigné ses premières leçons de dessin et peinture.
De 1915 à 1925, son travail était influencé par le modernisme.
A partir de 1925, il commence à prendre la réalité quotidienne comme sujet et ne fait que des œuvres figuratives.
Onnes a conçut de nombreux vitraux et fait des portraits de Albert EINSTEIN et Paul EHRENFEST.
Onnes caractérise son travail artistique avec la phrase "juste déconner".
En 1953, il prit part à l'exposition "Cinq potiers contemporains" au muséum Boijmans Van Beuningen.

This painter was born in Zoeterwoude in 1893, his father Menso Kamerlingh Onnes was a painter and member of the school of THE HAGUE, who in 1911 gave him permission to become an artist and taught him his first lessons in drawing and painting .
From 1915 to 1925, his work was influenced by modernism.
From 1925, he began taking everyday reality as subject and merely figurative works.
He designed many stained glass windows and made portraits of Albert Einstein and Paul EHRENFEST. He characterizes his artistic work with the phrase "just messing around" .In 1953 he took part in the exhibition "Five contemporary potters" in the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.
