Superbe bassin Indo-persan en cuivre gravé et décoré toutes faces de quinze mandorles bombés portant des décors de chitals appelés aussi cerfs axis.
Le Cerf axis ou Chital est un cervidé présent naturellement dans les régions boisées de l'Inde, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh et du Népal.
On le retrouve dans toutes les réserves de l'Inde et a été introduit en Europe centrale, Ex-Yougoslavie, Australie, Brésil, Argentine, Uruguay, Texas et Hawaï..
D'autres chitals très fins sont ciselés dans des bandeaux ainsi que des frises de treillages.
L'ensemble est en très bel état
Provenance : Inde du Nord.

Superb Indo-Persian basin in copper engraved and decorated on all sides with fifteen domed mandorles bearing decorations of chitals also called axis deer.
The axis deer or Chital is a deer naturally occurring in the wooded regions of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
It is found in all the reserves of India and has been introduced in Central Europe, Former Yugoslavia, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Texas and Hawaii.
Other very fine chitals are chiseled in bands as well as trellis friezes.
The whole is in very good condition Provenance: North India.
