Kimono komon en soie, ( doublée d'une soie intérieure ) à décor de feuille, dessin épuré, en très bon état, vers 1950, 1960.
Longueur : 140 cm, largeur : 118 cm
Durant l'époque d'Edo (1603-1867), les différentes classes sociales étaient soumises à des règles sévères jusque dans la façon de se vêtir.
En effet, la soie était réservée à la noblesse et aux guerriers.
Cependant, les sériciculteurs se mirent à fabriquer pour leur propre usage, des tissus à partir de fils de soie de qualité moyenne, impossibles à commercialiser. Ces tissus qui laissaient apparaître des irrégularités à leur surface et qui ne ressemblaient en rien à de la soie (mais plutôt à du coton) furent alors très prisés par les classes inférieures (marchands, bourgeois) qui, grâce à cette ingéniosité, eurent alors la possibilité de porter en toute tranquillité un matériau qui leur était interdit.
Au XXème siècle, la soie utilisée a repris ses lettres de noblesse et la soie utilisée pour les kimonos qui coutent très cher, est de très bonne qualité.
Komon(小紋?) :petit motif. Il s'agit d'un kimono avec un motif répétitif.
Ce kimono est assez informel, et peut être porté en ville, ou rendu plus formel avec un joli obi ( ceinture en soie )pour manger au restaurant.
Les femmes mariées et célibataires peuvent le porter.

Kimono komon in silk, (lined with an interior silk) with leaf decoration, refined design, in very good condition, around 1950, 1960.
Length: 140 cm, width: 118 cm During the Edo period (1603- 1867), the different social classes were subject to strict rules even in the way of clothing. Indeed, silk was reserved for the nobility and the warriors.
However, the silk growers began to manufacture for their own use, fabrics from silk threads of average quality, impossible to market.
These fabrics which revealed irregularities on their surface and which looked nothing like silk (but rather cotton) were then very popular with the lower classes (merchants, bourgeois) who, thanks to this ingenuity, then had the possibility of peacefully carrying a material which was forbidden to them. Komon (小 紋?): Small pattern. It is a kimono with a repeating pattern.
This kimono is quite informal, and can be worn in town, or made more formal with a nice obi (silk belt) to eat at the restaurant.
Married and single women can wear it.
