Tapis Kirsehir ou Kir-chéhir ancien, originaire d'Anatolie en Turquie du début du XXème siècle, chaîne, trame, et velours en laine présentant un Mihrab à double médaillons.
Le premier est à fond gris perle et blanc, l'autre, rouge cerise et jaune, chacun porte en son sein un bouquet représentant un arbre de vie.
Le sommet triangulaire du Mihrab est taillé en escalier, et porte des crochets sans ornementation, si ce n'est le semis de fleurs, les S, ainsi que la lanterne suspendue au centre.
Autour comme au dessus de la niche, on retrouve des décors de fleurs, stylisés jaune et rouge.
La bordure principale est riche d'un décor très élaboré de fleurs, rouge cerise, jaune, et gris perle, d'une très grande harmonie.
Les galons longeant la bordure reprennent le motif de la ligne en zigzag, symbolisant l'eau ou l'éternité que l'on peut rencontrer sur des tapis d'Anatolie et du Caucase.
Les Kirsehir font parti d'un groupe moins connu, mais aux dessins particulièrement originaux que l'Est de la Turquie produisait. Les Kirsehir et leurs voisins les tapis Moudjour ont un décor géométrique que l'on explique par une situation montagneuse de ces deux villages du sud-est de la Turquie.
L'élément floral sur les Kirsehir est toujours très stylisé et l'on peine certaines fois à les discerner,les couleurs de base sont le rouge cerise et le vert pastel.
Ils existent des ressemblances avec les Moudjours, mais les couleurs sont beaucoup plus foncées et les niches en escalier sont d'une seule teinte , ce qui amène des confusions entre ces deux styles de tapis dans certaines dénominations et présentations.
Notre modèle est un bel exemple de ce groupe et de ce merveilleux travail de nouage, en très bon état, des manque légers aux franges sont visibles mais ne gâchent en rien la beauté de cette très belle pièce lumineuse.

"Old Kirsehir Carpet, Anatolia, Turkey, 102 Cm X 166 Cm, Early 20th Century"
Old Kirsehir or Kir-chéhir carpet, originating from Anatolia in Turkey at the beginning of the 20th century, warp, weft, and woolen velvet presenting a Mihrab with double medallions.
The first has a pearl gray and white background, the other, cherry red and yellow, each one carries within it a bouquet representing a tree of life.
The triangular top of the Mihrab is carved into a staircase, and bears hooks without ornamentation, except for the seedling of flowers, the S, as well as the lantern suspended in the center.
Around and above the niche, there are decorations of flowers, stylized yellow and wheel.
The main border is rich with a very elaborate decoration of flowers, cherry red, yellow, and pearl gray, of a very great harmony.
The braids along the border take up the motif of the zigzag line, symbolizing water or eternity that can be found on rugs from Anatolia and the Caucasus.
The Kirsehir are part of a less well-known group, but with particularly original designs that Eastern Turkey produced.
The Kirsehirs and their neighbors, the Moudjour rugs, have a geometric decoration that can be explained by the mountainous situation of these two villages in south-eastern Turkey.
The floral element on the Kirsehir is always very stylized and it is sometimes difficult to discern them, the basic colors are cherry red and pastel green. There are similarities to the Moudjours, but the colors are much darker and the staircase niches are of a single shade, which leads to confusion between these two styles of rugs in certain denominations and presentations.
Our model is a fine example of this group and of this wonderful knotting job, in very good condition, slight lack of fringes is visible but in no way detracts from the beauty of this very beautiful bright piece.
