Grand drap épais en coton peint à la main, vers 1950, Iran, Perse.appelé Ghalamkar
Décor aux deux cyprès et aux paons.
Décor d'un grans médaillon, champ et bordures.
Couleurs uniformes et très fraiches, la photo assombrit le haut.
Ensemble en parfait état, pour tenture, dessus de lit, rideaux.
Le ghalamkar est une toile  peinte à la main.
Les traductions du mot  ghalamkar  sont multiples : peint à la plume, plume et encre, dessin à la plume le sens est toujours le même.
 Qu'il s'agisse de pinceaux, d'un kalam( roseau taillé en pointe)  ou d'un bloc de bois sculptés utilisé aujourd'hui, c'est la main de l'homme qui guide l'outil. Il était fait mention de toiles peintes  et non de tissus imprimés. 
Le peintre disposait d'un matériel restreint :  des roseaux ou kalam   mot d'origine perse,  qui signifie travail à la plume qui donna en grec kalamos=roseau.
C'est un outil t utilisé en Iran pour le ghalamkar et en Inde pour fabriquer des kalamkari. 
Les formes sont variées : certains sont  taillés en biseaux, d'autres avec une pointe écrasée s'utilisaient comme un pinceau.
 Le kalam  suivant la manière dont il était taillé permettait de tracer des traits  avec des nuances et des dégradés;
La traduction du mot dévoile le secret que se cache cette technique: dessin  peint  à la  plume.
C'est sous la domination des Safavides, au XVIeme siècle que le ghalamkar  atteint son plus haut niveau de qualité.
Artistes et artisans développèrent cet artisanat dans la ville d' Isfahan ( Ispahan).
Aujourd'hui encore les cotonnades imprimées s'exposent dans les boutiques qui bordent  la place Naghsh-e-Jahan et dans les échoppes du grand bazar.

Large thick cotton sheet hand painted, circa 1950, Iran, Persia.
Called Ghalamkar Decor with two cypresses and peacocks.
Decor of a large medallion, field and borders.
Uniform and very fresh colors, the photo darkens the top. Set in perfect condition, for hanging, bedspread, curtains.
The ghalamkar is a hand-painted canvas. The translations of the word ghalamkar are multiple: painted with pen, pen and ink, pen drawing the meaning is always the same. Whether it is brushes, a kalam (reed cut into a point) or a block of carved wood used today, it is the hand of the man that guides the tool.
It was mentioned painted canvases and not printed fabrics. The painter had limited equipment: reeds or kalam, a word of Persian origin, which means work with a pen, which gave in Greek kalamos = reed. It is a tool used in Iran for the ghalamkar and in India to make kalamkari. The shapes are varied: some are beveled, others with a crushed tip were used like a brush. The kalam, depending on the way it was cut, made it possible to draw lines with nuances and gradients; The translation of the word reveals the secret behind this technique: drawing painted with a pen. It was under the domination of the Safavids, in the 16th century, that the ghalamkar reache
d its highest level of quality. Artists and craftsmen developed this craft in the city of Isfahan (Isfahan). Even today, printed cottons are exhibited in the shops that line Naghsh-e-Jahan Square and in the stalls of the Grand Bazaar.
